IDtech presents two new biometric reader solutions with «Mifare» cards
For over 10 years, IDtech has been marketing, installing and maintaining personal identification solutions based on biometric technologies for recognising fingerprints or hand geometry.
Until now, the «biometric image» (template) had to be stored in a database within the reader. This meant that template updates from one reader to another required the use of a laptop PC or a cabled link between readers.
Today, IDtech offers fingerprint and hand geometry readers incorporating Mifare memory card technology. This integration makes it possible to transfer the biometric image data to the card's memory, so that it is no longer necessary to store the templates in the readers.
These solutions offer the following advantages:
- No need for database transfers from one reader to another,
- Simplified day-to-day management,
- Recognition of an unlimited number of people by the biometric readers,
- Independent readers located in different locations,
- Privacy: the biometric information is held by the user rather than the reader.
It is very simple to use the biometric reader with Mifare cards. The user just presents his card to the reader integrated into the biometric terminal. The template is transferred in less than half a second. The user then places his finger or hand in the reader, which compares the biometric image received from the card with the data it has just analysed. If the sets of data are identical, the person is recognised and identified. The operation takes one second.
